Bread for the World

Lehigh County Conference of Churches

This annual gathering will include discussion of both local and international food and hunger issues and conversation with our elected members of Congress.

This year's Offering of Letters campaign--Millennium Challenge: Ending Global Poverty --will focus on urging Congress to increase poverty-focused development assistance and better coordinate that aid by passing the Global Poverty Act. The workshop will offer materials, key information, and creative learning experiences to equip you to organize an Offering of Letters in your church, campus, or group.

The program will also include presentations on local food and hunger issues. Tentative workshop topics include "Who's Hungry in the Lehigh Valley"; "Community Supported Agriculture (CSAs)"; the Food Trust; and Food and Biofuels: Facts and Myths.

There will be time for conversation with special guests (invited) U.S. Senator Robert P. Casey, Jr., and Congressman Charles Dent.

Continental breakfast and lunch are included. (Donations accepted)

Look for more details here in late January, 2008.
